A Cup of Inspiration With Our Upcoming Newsletter
I am not a creature of habit. I like change and admittedly, prefer to be a little bit uncomfortable in new surroundings, then bored with the same ol’, same ol’.
Except when it comes to Friday mornings, where without fail, you will find me sitting at one of the many Ditta Artiginale cafés around Florence, devouring a plate of French Toast smothered in Canadian Maple Syrup. It’s my comfort food that connects me back to my roots.
Sorry. Already took a bite before my hubby got a picture. You have to be fast I said!
Last week, we decided on Ditta near our old neighborhood in Sant’ Ambrogio. This place holds a special spot in our hearts. It's a quaint neighborhood, just on the edge of the Centro, so not too touristy but lots of activity. Everything about this area screams "Italy" – from the beautiful parks and architecture to the local customer-focused shops and the amazing daily market.
Today, I decided to break my routine of Cappuccino Ditta (which is a jumbo cup) and instead sip on a caffè Leccese which is an iced espresso with some almond syrup, which in these summer temperatures is much more refreshing.
If you like coffee but not the heat in the summer, you should also try the Shakerato. It's basically a frozen, shaken espresso in a martini glass. Cafés usually have two bottles prepared, one made with sugar and one without, since the sugar needs to dissolve in the hot espresso before freezing.
What else do I do during these sugar-filled Friday mornings?

This, paired with a fork full of French toast and delicious coffee, is the perfect fuel to get things going. So, let me tell you what we're currently working on…
